Dental Emergencies
At Coldstream Dental
your dental emergency is given priority.
We provide comprehensive, comfortable care
for all ages. We realize that emergencies
happen and we do our best to accomodate
you.
In the event of an emergency,
immediately call our office so that we can
bring you in to see one of our dentist as
quickly as possible. We provide evening
and Saturday appointments to meet your needs.
Common Dental emergencies:
- Tooth knocked
out. If a tooth has been knocked
out, please call our office and explain
what has happened, so that we can see
you immediately. In the meantime, DO NOT
scrub dirt off of the tooth, and DO NOT
put it in water. Do however, put it in
a glass of milk to transport it to our
office, or put it in your mouth, just
inside your cheek (be sure not to swallow
it though).
- Hit in mouth.
It is important that this condition be
treated immediately. An X-ray should be
taken to check for damage in the surrounding
bone.
- Oral Swelling.
Swelling is a sign of infection. Again,
it must be treated immediately. If left
untreated, the infection could become
serious and even life-threatening. We
will assess your tooth at this initial
appointment and determine if treatment
is needed to prevent the recurrence of
the infection.
- Broken Tooth.
A broken tooth should be fixed in order
to prevent decay from growing in this
area. Drug stores often sell a temporary
filling material that you can place in
the area to protect your tongue from sharp
edges until your appointment.
- Crown off.
If a crown has come off please see a dentist
as soon as possible. Do NOT attempt to
glue it back on yourself.
- Oral Pain.
Call to arrange an immediate appointment.
In the meantime, try an over the counter
pain reliever. Do NOT apply heat to the
outside of your face. Do NOT apply an
aspirin directly to the tooth or gum.
